it is getting harder and harder to not feel like i am wasting time here. every day that passes, where i don’t touch Unity, feels like a wasted opportunity.
this seem to zip, whoosh and click when i am programming; but DCC is a completely different animal, almost a hostile one… a hostile sloth, if there is such a thing. the process slogs along at a grueling pace, the case of which is exactly why this change is a necessity. i try to remind mysepf of this, in my delve further into the realm of proceduralism.
don’t call it a break, i prefer the term, “personal development hiatus”. even with my college course analogy, it’s tough to not feel like i am just watching videos and playing copycat, rather than acquiring a new skill. but really, it’s the same way i learned Maya in college.
i really think the change will pay off. the change to proceduralism in my texture workflow has already saved me loads of time and if Houdini can make even half that difference with my modeling, then the rest of this project and all future endeavors should be greatly expedited. i have felt like making requested changes on-the-fly and rapid iteration are some of the areas where my skill set is weak, so if i can fully incorporate proceduralism into all aspects of my workflow, it has to be the right way to go.
just have to get plucking away at is, i suppose
