i think i need to start documenting more things in this log…
working on the second terrain and i realised i couldn’t really remember the exact workflow i used, just a couple notes on the polygon count that were actually misleading after digging into the old project files. i really did some convoluted things and hacked everything together using more software packages than i can count on a single hand
going to have to spend more time examining the first terrain to ensure the same procedure is applied here to similar result. i did a cursory inspection toward the end of the day and it seems to be around 2k triangles per tile. tomorrow i’ll check out the seetexture resolutions of the maps i exported from Houdini and also open up the Painter project for consistency
gotta make sure to jot down the general workflow once i nail it down; kinda the whole point of this damn devlog. even with delving into the previous terrain, it should still be a quicker thr second time around. in the end, if i can boil it down to the basics and prune some of the excess files i generated the first time around as i generate the second, then the third planet should be a breeze
