started retopologising boss ship 3 and i actually figured out a way to see the vertex color data from zbrush in Maya, which should make the process a bit more friendly and eliminate the use of TopoGun altogether. the more i use Maya’s modeling toolkit, the more i like it… the only thing n i am not sure about is checking the projection against the topology. this is usually done with a project or bake preview of some kind as in zbrush or TopoGun’s tooling. anyway; blah, blah… not sure if i had already figured this out in the past, but on to the method: export from zbrush with FBX plugin and then import as Best Guess in Maya. after that turn the color on from Mesh Display > Toggle Vertex Color
